Position Details

Job Status: Part-time

Supervisor: Assistant Director of Operations

Pay Type: Hourly based on experience and performance.

Work Schedule/Start date: Flexible/Starting May or June – October

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who love boats and being around the water. Offering a flexible schedule and a fun work environment. You will assist members with boat reservations, prepare and clean boats for outings, ensure safety on the docks and work with our Dockmaster to provide an outstanding boating experience for our members and their guests.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet customers in a friendly, upbeat, courteous, and professional manner
  • Assist customers with boarding / un-boarding boats with emphasis on safety
  • Assist with docking and fueling boats
  • Clean and sanitize boats and stage equipment for next outings
  • Inspect boats for safety, equipment checks, tie-up and proper slip location
  • Ensure docks are clean and presentable
  • Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
  • Must love working around the water and providing impeccable customer service
  • Always operate with an emphasis on guest hospitality
  • Work with Dockmaster to ensure customer service standards of quality are met
  • Daily clerical work to prepare reservation log, fuel log and weather reports
  • Familiarize yourself with local waters in order to provide basic chart guidance to customers

Skills & Requirements

  • Seeking candidate that has a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and is a great team player
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised
  • Must be organized and detail oriented and adhere to all safety policies
  • Must have strong communication and friendly customer service skills
  • Boating experience in and around boats 18-24′ in length (basic knowledge of how to operate a boat)
  • Previous marina and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record with proof of insurance
  • Physical ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs, board and un-board boats dozens of times per day as well as kneel and bend to clean boats
  • This position requires the employee to spend 90% of the day outside in all weather conditions and weekend/holiday shifts are required
  • Must pass a background check (for applicants 21 or older)

Clubs currently operate out of Yarmouth Boat Yard on the Royal River at 72 Lafayette Street in Yarmouth, at Moose Landing Marina at 32 Moose Landing Trail in Naples, Point Sebago Resort at 261 Point Sebago Road in Casco, at Fore Points Marina in downtown Portland at 58 Fore Street, and at Sunset Marina at 231 Front Street in South Portland, and at Linekin Bay Resort at 92 Wall Point Road in Boothbay Harbor.

Position Details

Job Status: Full-time, seasonal

Career Level: 3+ years’ experience

Minimum Degree: High School graduate or equivalent

Department: Operations Department

Supervisor: Freedom Boat Club (FBC) Director of Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Type: Hourly compensation based on experience and performance

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing Freedom Boat Club operations at our Naples location at Moose Landing Marina
  • Assists with scheduling of FBC dock staff to ensure adequate coverage while also keeping payroll costs in line with set budgets
  • Ensure that FBC dock staff properly attend to custodial needs of vessels, prior to and upon return of boat
  • Consistently monitor the docks for safety and efficiency purposes
  • Assist members with boat reservations
  • Ensure that local club operations meet the FBC model standards for dock staff training, member reservation assistance, and overall member experience at the club
  • Assist boaters with loading and unloading car and or boat, assist with arrivals and departures
  • Perform other duties as assigned and committed to delivering the highest levels of customer service
  • Coordinate with FBC Director and Assistant Director of Operations with all necessary HR, financial and insurance transactions including acquisition and removal of boats from fleet

Skills & Requirements

  • 2-3 plus years of experience in marina or hospitality work environment preferred
  • Seeking candidate that is ethical and accountable, has a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and is a great teammate
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can make independent decisions to determine appropriate course of action
  • Must be a self-starter with strong communication and exceptional customer service skills
  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Working some weekends and holidays is required
  • This position requires the employee to spend 90% off the day outside in all weather conditions

Freedom Boat Club is looking to add a highly customer-focused US Coast Guard Captain to provide training and on-boarding for our club members through classroom and on the water training. Good communication skills and friendly customer service required. The position will require weekend hours as needed and is part-time with flexible schedule. COVID-19 precautions, sanitizing procedures, and social distancing guidelines are in place. Personal protective equipment is provided and required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Will provide standardized, company approved classroom and on the water safety and navigational training to new Freedom Boat Club members.
  • Greet customers in a friendly, upbeat, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Must be able to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity and always ensure impeccable customer service standards of quality are met.
  • Must familiarize self with local waters to provide key local knowledge tips and basic chart guidance to members.

Skills & Requirements

  • Seeking candidate that has a positive outlook, a strong work ethic, and is a great team player with cooperative attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees.
  • Candidates must hold a US Coast Guard Captains License.
  • Must love working around the water and have extensive experience operating small, outboard powered vessels (21-25 ft) similar to our FBC fleet boats.
  • Must have highly effective communication skills and impeccable customer service abilities.
  • Previous instructor experience is highly desirable.
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised.
  • Always operate with an emphasis on guest hospitality.
  • Must be organized with a high attention to detail and adhere to all safety policies.
  • Physical ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs and be able to board/un-board boats.
  • This position requires the employee to spend significant time outside in all weather conditions and weekend shifts are required as needed.
