Position Description

We’re looking for the best and the brightest to work at Freedom Boat Club Maine and to strengthen our team. You will supervise and coordinate activities of the Operations team engaged in customer service, operational standards, fleet maintenance and site supervisorship.

Position Details

  • Job Status: Full-time, year-round
  • Job Location: All Freedom Boat Club of Maine locations – Yarmouth, Naples, Portland, and South Portland
  • Career Level: 5+ years of experience in Marina operations or related
  • Minimum Education: College degree preferred but not required
  • Department: FBC Operations Department
  • Supervisor: FBC Director of Operations
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • Pay Type: Salary – compensation based on experience and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and facilitate training of Dockhands and follow-up to ensure company standards.
  • Oversee customer contact and train to ensure first in class service is provided.
  • Work with Director of Operations regarding scheduling, preparing, and executing fleet maintenance.
  • Establish and maintain interdepartmental relationships.
  • Oversee productivity and engagement.
  • Oversee fleet readiness and functionality.
  • Address repairs and service.
  • Update the Director of Operations on daily work schedule, personnel, equipment, facilities, and customer concerns/issues/feedback.
  • Communicate with members about satisfaction and vessel readiness.
  • Train new members utilizing USCG Coast Guard credentials and Freedom Boat Club curriculum.
  • Learn Freedom Boat Club Reservation system and navigation.
  • Learn engine maintenance, commissioning, and decommissioning processes.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of customer service experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • 5+ years of experience in the boating industry preferred.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Seeking a candidate that is a team player, has a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to make independent decisions to determine appropriate course of action.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
  • Candidate with USCG Merchant Mariner credentials preferred.
  • Omnia assessment test will be given.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional verbal and written communication competency.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all employees, associates, vendors, etc.
  • Must understand and follow company policies and procedures with a high attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible in adjusting to new or changing situations.
  • Background check required.

Position Details

Job Status: Part-time

Supervisor: Director of Operations

Pay Type: $14/hour or higher based on experience and performance

Work Schedule/Start date: Flexible/Starting May or June – October 2021

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who love boats and being around the water. Offering a flexible schedule and a fun work environment. You will assist members with boat reservations, prepare and clean boats for outings, ensure safety on the docks and work with our Dockmaster to provide an outstanding boating experience for our members and their guests.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet customers in a friendly, upbeat, courteous, and professional manner
  • Assist customers with boarding / un-boarding boats with emphasis on safety
  • Assist with docking and fueling boats
  • Clean and sanitize boats and stage equipment for next outings
  • Inspect boats for safety, equipment checks, tie-up and proper slip location
  • Ensure docks are clean and presentable
  • Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
  • Must love working around the water and providing impeccable customer service
  • Always operate with an emphasis on guest hospitality
  • Work with Dockmaster to ensure customer service standards of quality are met
  • Daily clerical work to prepare reservation log, fuel log and weather reports
  • Familiarize yourself with local waters in order to provide basic chart guidance to customers

Skills & Requirements

  • Seeking candidate that has a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and is a great team player
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised
  • Must be organized and detail oriented and adhere to all safety policies
  • Must have strong communication and friendly customer service skills
  • Boating experience in and around boats 18-24′ in length (basic knowledge of how to operate a boat)
  • Previous marina and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record with proof of insurance
  • Physical ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs, board and un-board boats dozens of times per day as well as kneel and bend to clean boats
  • This position requires the employee to spend 90% off the day outside in all weather conditions and weekend/holiday shifts are required
  • Must pass a background check (for applicants 21 or older)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing Freedom Boat Club operations at our Naples location at Moose Landing Marina
  • Assists with scheduling of FBC dock staff to ensure adequate coverage while also keeping payroll costs in line with set budgets
  • Ensure that FBC dock staff properly attend to custodial needs of vessels, prior to and upon return of boat
  • Consistently monitor the docks for safety and efficiency purposes
  • Work with FBC Director of Operations to assist members with boat reservations
  • Ensure that local club operations meet the FBC model standards in regard to dock staff training, member reservation assistance, and overall member experience at the club
  • Assist boaters with loading and unloading car and or boat, assist with arrivals and departures
  • Perform other duties as assigned and committed to delivering the highest levels of customer service
  • Coordinate with FBC Director of Operations with all necessary HR, financial and insurance transactions including acquisition and removal of boats from fleet

  • 2-3 plus years of experience in marina or hospitality work environment preferred
